Are You Considering Bariatric Surgery or have you had Bariatric Surgery?
We know that patients can enjoy their
weight loss, improved health & quality
of life after surgery.
We also understand that sometimes positive change may require some lifestyle and psychological changes.
Some patients may experience a range of problems including:
pre-existing chronic depression and anxiety
body image issues
fears of returning to old, unhealthy eating habits
We also know that some problems experienced pre-surgery may continue after surgery – as surgery itself does not automatically remove these…..
The support of a CBT Therapist to help you adjust to both the positive changes (pre and post surgery) and some of the challenges is available at Manchester Centre for CBT.
Our team of therapists can provide you with much needed individual support sessions tailored to your needs whether you are waiting for surgery or have experienced bariatric surgery.
Support sessions have been shown to directly increase the chances of short and long-term patient success following bariatric surgery.
Patients attending will have the opportunity to:
Consider issues to do with their prior history of weight gain/obesity
Discuss any personal or professional issues that arise from the consequences of bariatric surgery
Make sense of the role food plays in your life
Focus on learning a new relationship with food
Share any concerns about return to old eating habits
Explore body image issues
Gain support for any binge eating/bulimia problems
Identify self esteem/confidence issues
Consider any other mental health issues related to weight management and/or weight loss surgery adjustment.
If you are considering bariatric surgery
or have undertaken surgery and want some
psychological support then please
contact us to make an appointment for an
Assessment session with a therapist.
Assessment sessions cost £65.00 (inclusive of VAT) and any agreed subsequent sessions attending our specific programme for pre/post bariatric surgery patients costs £60.00 (inclusive of VAT) per session.
